Waikato has more scholarships per student than any other university in New Zealand. There are scholarships and grants for many student groups, including secondary school leavers, Maori students and adult students, and in many subject areas. The award was established to commemorate the centennial of Victoria University of Wellington, and its support of educational opportunities for Deaf people in New Zealand.
