Welcome to apply for fully funded scholarship within the Erasmus Mundus Europe Asia (EMEA) Scholarship Programme! EMEA is a scholarship programme for students on undergraduate, master, doctoral and post-doctoral level as well as for university staff in academic or administrative positions, financed by the European Commission. The EMEA Scholarship Programme is open to nationals in Bangladesh, China, India, Nepal and Pakistan who want to study or work at one of the European partner universities.

The Department of Biology will award up to five scholarships to overseas students for undergraduate entry in 2012 (or for deferred entry in 2013). Each scholarship is worth £1000 annually for the duration of the course*, subject to satisfactory academic progress. Successful applicants will be required to meet the balance of the costs of their course.

Eligibility
If you are applying for one of the three-year or four-year Biochemistry degree programmes, and are liable to pay overseas fees, you are eligible to apply.

The International Graduate Program for Advanced Science (IGPAS) was initiated in October 2004 as one of the first International Priority Graduate Programs supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, and Technology (MEXT). The lecture courses are taught in English, and the students are not required to learn the Japanese language, although you are encouraged to learn it for your daily life. Scholarships and housing opportunities are available to make it easier for students from developing countries to apply. Since its establishment in 2004, 31 students from 19 countries have earned Master of Science degrees, and 24 have earned Ph.D. degrees, as of September 2011.

Leadership and Community Service Award: Past recipients have shown significant leadership through high school organizations and youth groups, as well as volunteering at local family shelters and food drives. In an essay, describe your experiences as a leader in your community and/or your experiences with community service. Your essay should be between 250 – 500 words in length.

Art & Graphic Design: Please provide a brief statement describing your experiences in art. Your essay should be between 150 – 250 words in length. Please submit a portfolio containing at least 10 examples of your work. Art work should be mailed to the Admissions Office at the address listed below.
