The Scholarship

The Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water /La Trobe University Civil Engineering Scholarship Program has been established to provide support for the completion of a tertiary qualification of future professional civil engineering staff. It is available to full-time students commencing the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) course, or one of the Engineering double degree courses, at the Bendigo campus of La Trobe University. Financial support in the form of a $5,000 scholarship per year for the duration of the course, fully-paid vacation work experience during each year of the course ($5000 per year, approximate), access to career mentoring advice from Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water Engineers.

The Ambassador Scholarship Program has been established to provide annual support for commencing students seeking to major in a discipline within the School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. Six scholarships of $2000 per year will be offered in 2012. The disciplines include Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Games Technology, Physics and Nanotechnology.

Employer-partners and prospective full-time students residing in communities in the Murrumbidgee Basin are invited to apply for grant monies towards the cost of an undergraduate degree in civil engineering to be undertaken at La Trobe University’s Bendigo campus. A total of ten civil engineering cadetships will be offered to commencing student / industry partnerships over a period of six and half years. Each cadetship will have a value of up to $11,000 per annum composed of a $3000 contribution from FRRR and Pratt Foundation and $2,000 from the applicable industry partner. Employer-partners and prospective students in communities in the Murrumbidgee Basin are invited to apply for grant monies towards the cost of an undergraduate degree in civil engineering to be undertaken at La Trobe University’s Bendigo campus. Students will return to their communities both during and on-completion of their studies to undertake employment with their respective employer-partner. The program incorporates a 3-way relationship between The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR)/ Pratt Foundation, Employer-partners, and La Trobe University Bendigo Campus and Department of Civil Engineering.

The American Meteorological Society is pleased to announce the AMS Freshman Undergraduate Scholarship program, open to all high school students and designed to encourage study in the atmospheric and related sciences. Applicant must be a Norwalk High School senior, a member in good standing of the Kevin M. Eidt Chapter of the Norwalk High School Honor Society, and a citizen of the U.S. planning to enroll in a four-year accredited U.S. college or university in the fall of 2012. The college or university must be a public or private, not for profit institution from which one can receive a bachelor’s degree. Applicant must be in continued good standing in both Norwalk High School and their community. Applicant must be academically ranked in the top 10% of their class at the end of junior year. By the time of graduation applicant must have completed a minimum of six semesters at Norwalk High School.

The entire LAWA Fellowship Program is approximately 14 months long (from July of the first year through August of the following year), after which the LAWA Fellows return home to continue advocating for women’s rights in their own countries. The LAWA Program starts in July, when the Fellows attend the Georgetown Law Center’s Foundations of American Law and Legal Education course. From August through May, the LAWA Fellows earn a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree at Georgetown with an emphasis on international women’s human rights and complete a major graduate paper on a significant women’s rights issue in their home countries. After graduation, the LAWA Fellows have an opportunity to engage in challenging work assignments for several months at various public interest organizations to learn about different advocacy strategies to advance women’s human rights, before returning home to continue advancing women’s human rights in their own countries.

Switzerland is offering ten university bursaries to South African students for the academic year 2011/2012. Preference will be given to doctoral and post doctoral application but does not exclude masters applications. These bursaries are granted for studies and research at Swiss Universities and Federal Institutes of Technology (you will find a list of Swiss Universities and Federal Institutes of Technology on www.swissuni.ch). Candidates should not be older than 35 years (born after 1 January 1976). Before applying, candidates should establish if their planned study program or research project can be carried out at the university concerned. Therefore, they will have to contact the Professor or the Administrator responsible for the postgraduate course or research.
