The 2012 call for NRF applications for full-time Master’s, Honours or BTech study is now open for hardcopy applications. If students have already submitted an online application for Master’s, they do not need to complete the hardcopy application as the electronic version will be considered.

The NSBE Fellows Scholarship Program is a tiered-scholarship program that provides scholastic motivation to achieve and serves as a tool to encourage members to continue to strive for academic excellence, while developing professional and leadership skills through organization and community involvement. The awards are given to student members who have demonstrated high scholastic performance, dedicated service to the Society and other organizations, and who possess high professional promise. The National Society of Black Engineers will award several scholarships through this program at the NSBE Annual Convention in Pittsburgh, PA on March 28- April 2, 2012.

RUFORUM funded project titled “Effect of Uranium Contamination in Selected Tanzanian Agricultural Soils and its Transfer in Food Chains” seek to sponsor two candidates (one female and one male) to study M.Sc. degree at SUA this academic year (2011/2012). The first candidate will register and study his/her coursework in the Department of Food Science and Technology for one year and do research on uranium contamination in food chains in Bahi District. The second candidate will register for coursework in the Department of Soil Science and do research on spatial distribution of uranium in selected farms in Bahi District and determine its uptake by plants.

The scholarship, introduced by Ministry of Human Resource Development Department of Higher Education, Govt. Of India, aims at providing financial assistance to meritorious students from low income families. Under Graduate Students: Rs.1000/- per month for (Subject to a Maximum of Rs. 10,000/- for an academic year) and Rs. 2000/- per month for Post-Graduate studies (Subject to a Maximum of Rs. 20,000/- for an academic year), provided they are selected for Scholarship at UG level. Professional Courses: Rs.1000/- per month for the first three years (Subject to a Maximum of Rs. 10,000/- for an academic year) and Rs. 2000/- per month for the 4 th and 5 th years of study (Subject to a maximum of Rs. 20,000/- for an academic year).

Documents submitted in support of this application must be in English – either originals or a true copy of the original. Certification of true copies must be done by a recognised official or by the institution that issued the documents and must bear the official stamp and signature of the certifier. Applicants should include certified copies of supporting documents such as previous examination results, school reports and testimonials, at least two recent references and evidence of any other achievements including school and community participation. Where results from M6 level examinations (or their equivalent) are not completed or available, it is essential that an original and signed set of forecast results are provided by the applicant’s current educational institution

In loving memory of Gill Jacot Guillarmod, Senior Project Manager and Liaison Officer of the Centre for Human Rights from 1 May 2001 to 15 January 2010, in deep appreciation for her role to the academic and other programmes of the Centre, and in recognition of her humanity and humour, which left a profound impression on everyone whose lives touched hers, the Centre for Human Rights in 2010 established the Gill Jacot Guillarmod Scholarship.

The full scholarships include tuition and room for the duration of the program. Candidates that do not qualify for the full scholarship may be selected for the partial scholarships that cover part of tuition, whereas all other living costs and travel will be at the expense of the student. Do note that recipients of a full scholarship should expect to cover additional living expenses for the duration of the program estimated at a minimum of €250 per month, whereas the partial scholarship recipients should expect to cover a minimum of €850 per month for rent and food.
