The Scholarship

The member companies of The Refractories Institute (TRI) have established an academic scholarship program for the 2012-2013 academic year to support qualified students enrolled in degree programs who have exhibited an interest in refractory manufacturing through course work or other activities, and who might be considering a career in the refractory industry. TRI will award a limited number of scholarships based on academic merit and the applicant’s demonstrated experience and interest in the field of refractories. Scholarships will be awarded in the form of one time grants of $5,000 each, based on the review of applications and the judgment of the TRI Scholarship Committee and Board of Directors. Previous TRI Scholarship recipients are not eligible for further consideration.

Award amounts for scholarships are dependent upon funding raised annually. LMSA-National cannot guarantee complete funding of medical school application fees. LMSA-National cannot make any guarantees about the amount to be awarded or the number of awards to be given. Determination of which scholarship to be awarded will be based on the information provided on the application and at the sole discretion of the selection committee. . It is the student’s responsibility to submit a complete application and all supporting documents by the deadline, extensions will not be granted. Incomplete or late application materials will result in ineligibility.

Drama for Life is a programme at The University of the Witwatersrand “Wits School of Arts” that aims to enhance the capacity of communities to take responsibility for the quality of their lives. The full-time programme offers Undergraduate Applied Drama Courses under Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Art BADA, Advanced Diploma, Honours, Masters, Post Graduate Diploma and PhD courses that build capacity in HIV and AIDS education through applied drama and theatre. The DFL approach is appropriate to current social realities and cognisant of the rich indigenous knowledge of Africa. Our alumni are from 15 African countries successfully work as theatre practitioners, lecturers, social workers, project managers and life skills trainers.

The Clark Fletcher Memorial Citrus Bursary is an award of up to $5,000 per annum that is granted to either a tertiary student who has a specific interest in the citrus industry, or an applicant who is involved in research that is likely to contribute to the New Zealand citrus industry. Applications are reviewed by the Executive Committee of New Zealand Citrus Growers Incorporated (NZCGI), with a strong preference given to projects that are aligned with NZCGI’s research goals. The bursary takes the form of an education bursary available to any student studying at a New Zealand tertiary institution for a diploma, degree, or post-graduate qualification in applied science who has a specific interest in the citrus industry, or provides funds to assist any suitable applicant involved in a research project that is likely to make a contribution to the New Zealand citrus industry.

Within the framework of its cooperation programme with Vietnam, the government of Belgium wishes to support the government of Vietnam in its efforts to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development. The Belgian Bilateral Scholarships (BBS) constitute an important component of this cooperation programme, which aims to contribute to the long-term growth and stability of Vietnam. Belgian Bilateral Scholarships, granted through the Directorate General for Development Cooperation (DGD) under the Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, enable young professionals from Vietnam to pursue Master studies in Belgium and gain new expertise for the benefit of their country. The programme is managed and implemented by the Belgian Embassy in Hanoi and the Belgian Development Agency (BTC).
