Posted by: In: PhD|Postgraduate|Scholarships in Europe
The Research Training Group (RTG 1644) on Scaling Problems in Statistics, funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG),
seeks applicants for
2 PhD positions in price transmission processes,
starting October 1, 2010.
Two sub-projects will study the influence of scale on the measurement of vertical and spatial price transmission processes for agricultural and food products. Price transmission has important implications for the distribution of value added and welfare in the food chain (witness for example the global food price ‘crisis’ of 2007/08).
The successful candidates will have degrees in statistics or in agricultural economics with strong quantitative skills and an interest in spatio-temporal modeling or time-series econometrics. For more detailed information on these sub-projects, please contact Prof. Dr. Stephan von Cramon-Taubadel (scramon(at)gwdg.de)
The highly interdisciplinary Research Training Group aims at solving current questions in the area of spatial ecology and other areas of applied statistics. It distinguishes itself through a structured graduation programme, joint supervision, and a study program consisting of methodologically oriented lectures and interdisciplinary research seminars. For more information, please visit our website http://zfs.uni-goettingen.de/sps.
The positions will start October 1, 2010, and are awarded for up to 3 years. The salary is in accordance with the German state regulated public service salary scale (75 % E 13 TV-L). The University of Göttingen actively seeks to foster career opportunities for female scholars and therefore strongly encourages qualified women to apply. Candidates with disabilities who are equally qualified for the position will receive special consideration.
Applications can be uploaded to the online form located at http://zfs.uni-goettingen.de/sps by June 30th, 2010. Full contact and application information can be found within the portal link. The interviews are intended to take place 12 and 13 July, 2010.
