[Europe] Erasmus Mundus International Master Scholarship in Management of IT (IMMIT)

Posted by: In: Master|Postgraduate|Scholarships in Europe

Erasmus Mundus programme: International Master in Management of IT (IMMIT), is jointly offered by IAE Aix Graduate School of Management, Université Paul Cezanne Aix-Marseille III (France), Turku University (Finland) and Tilburg University (The Netherlands).

Information and information technology (IT) are increasingly an integral part of products and services as well as the foundation of business processes. Organisations must know how to make the right choices with respect to new IT systems and at the same time, ensure that existing business processes continue to receive a high quality service from IT. This tight link between IT and organizational processes means that the IT department is not alone in its responsibility for the effective use of information and IT. Getting more value from IT is an increasingly important organisational competency. The IMMIT is Master’s program designed to address these new Information & Management challenges.

IMMIT offers you:

  • highly innovative programme for top students
  • outstanding academic quality
  • experience the international classroom and broaden your views on Business and IT
  • small class size
  • strong international orientation
  • guaranteed internship, so fast track career opportunities
  • exposure to cutting edge research and education in a fast growing discipline
  • coherent and well-structured programme

IMMIT in short

  • Name of the programme: International Master in Management of IT (IMMIT)
  • Duration of the programme: Two-year Master’s programme
  • Type of programme: full-time (on campus only, no distance learning)
  • Start of the programme: September intake only

*Students with an engineering Bachelor’s degree can be admitted if their previous education includes IT and information systems.

Application & Admission

If you decide to apply for the IMMIT programme, the IMMIT Admission Board will assess your application. In order to facilitate this process, it is imperative that you include all the required documents and meet all the academic requirements. Applications for admission are assessed throughout the year, from September 2010 onwards (for the September 2011 enrolment).

Please note:

  • The IMMIT Admission Board only accepts and assesses complete applications.
  • An advanced level of English – both oral and writing skills – is absolutely essential for the IMMIT Programme.

Admission Criteria

Applicants need to meet the following admission criteria:

  • The IMMIT programme is open to students with a Bachelor’s or equivalent undergraduate degree (180 ECTS) either in Management/Economics/Business Administration or in Computer Science/Information System. Students with an engineering degree can be admitted if their previous education includes IT and information systems.

  • An official copy of your GMAT test. The average GMAT score of accepted students is 600. Or an official copy of your GRE test score. Our incoming students usually score above the 75% percentile on the quantitative section.
  • Students with a relevant Bachelor degree from one of the partner institutions of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management, IAE Aix-en-Provence and Turku University do not need to submit the GMAT/GRE test score. (Note: a GMAT/GRE is however required in case a student wants to qualify for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship Category A or Category B).
  • A statement of purpose (motivation letter).
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Complete resume in English

The IMMIT Admission Board will start the assessment of your application only after receiving the complete set of the following documents:

If you have not obtained your diploma yet, please enclose a certified copy of your most recent transcript of records/list of grades. (*)
  • A short description of all the courses that you have taken during your (under)graduate studies that you think are relevant for applying to IMMIT. You may write these descriptions yourself or copy them from your university’s study guide (if possible) and you can send them by Email to: immit@uvt.nl
  • An official copy of the GRE General test results (code for GRE: 0730) or the GMAT test results (code for GMAT: VMV-LT-02).
  • If you are required to take an English proficiency test, then include a true copy either of the Academic IELTS, or TOEFL results. The TOEFL code is 9860.

In some countries, the city hall, notaries and banks are allowed to certify as well. Also certified copies by your home university are accepted.

Those applying for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship (Category A or B) must mark the corresponding box in the application form. Therefore no separate application for the Erasmus Mundus scholarships is needed.

Application Deadlines

Please make sure that your complete application package for the IMMIT programme arrives at our office before the following deadlines. We recommend you to send your application package by courier or by registered post to avoid loss or delay of your paperwork.

Application Deadlines for IMMIT programme starting September 2011:

  • January 15, 2011: for Category A and for Category B candidates requesting an Erasmus Mundus scholarship
  • April 15, 2011: for all non-EU candidates not requesting an Erasmus Mundus scholarship
  • June 1, 2011: for all EU candidates not requesting an Erasmus Mundus scholarship

Selection Process

The IMMIT consortium will apply for scholarships with respect to a ranking based on the previously mentioned admission criteria and specific criteria set by the Erasmus Mundus Agency. An interview with pre-questionnaire may be part of the selection procedure as well.

The IMMIT Admission Board expects to be able to communicate to Erasmus Mundus Category A applicants whether they have been accepted to the IMMIT programme and whether they have been awarded an EM category A scholarship in April 2011.

The deadline for Erasmus Mundus Category B scholarships is 15 April 2011. For these students, we expect to be able to communicate whether they have been accepted to the IMMIT programme and whether they have been awarded an EM Category B scholarship in July 2011.
