The holder of this position should have competency and experience in at least one of the fields of business studies. Scholarly proficiency is the main requirement for employment. The position involves a limited amount of teaching (the equivalent of one course a year and some supervision of Bachelor and Master’s Theses).

Eligibility
To be qualified for employment as post doc, an individual shall have a PhD awarded no more than three years ago (unless the applicant has been on parental leave of leave due to illness).

For appointment, the aplicant must have demonstrated a high degree of research expertise and also shown teaching skills. The application must include a research plan where the applicant presents his/her own ideas for research to be conducted.

About the Department & the biostatistics group

The Department of Medical Epidemiology & Biostatistics presently employ about 250 staff with 15 full professors & over 40 graduate students. The department is of the largest departments of epidemiology in Europe. Distinctive information resources – such as the Swedish Twin Registry, several large potential studies, ongoing nationwide case-control studies, access to clinical information, biological material & high-throughput genotype, expression, proteins/metabolites & sequence information – are effectively explored at the department. Qualifications
Candidates ought to have a PhD degree in statistics, biostatistics or related discipline, & have strong interest in medical & biological issues. The Center for Afroamerican and African Studies (CAAS) at the University of Michigan invites applications for the Du Bois-Mandela-Rodney Post-doctoral Fellowship Program from scholars working on Africa or the African diaspora. Consideration will be given to all disciplines including the humanities, social sciences and in some cases law, business, urban planning and other professional schools. Scholars from or who study the Gullah speaking Sea islands, Cape Verde islands, the Anglophone Caribbean, the Canary Islands, and Madagascar and/or other less studied areas are especially encouraged to apply. This is a residential fellowship for the academic year. The fellowship package is worth $45,000 plus health insurance coverage. Included in the package is a stipend of $42,000. Health insurance, plus $1,000 for research and up to $2,000 for travel expenses are also included. The post-doc will participate in the Dutch Cancer Society project :”Sister chromatid cohesion as a novel foothold for cancer therapy”, a collaboration with the departments Medical Oncology (Dr. V.W. van Beusechem) and Otolaryngology/ Head-Neck Surgery (Prof. Dr. R.H. Brakenhoff). Aim of the project is to investigate the hypothesis that defects in sister chromatid cohesion can be exploited for targeted and personalized cancer treatment. The cohesion between the two sister chromatids that appear after DNA replication is essential for faithful chromosome segregation. Recent evidence has indicated that cohesion defects may underlie chromosomal instability in a subset of cancers. These cancers might be more effectively treated by specific inhibition of the pathway(s) that have become essential for the survival of these tumors. The successful candidate will work on a project to characterise the growth and proliferation of tumour competent stem-like cells at the tumour-host interface in patients with Glioblastoma. You will have experience in the derivation and culture of neural stem cells and glioma stem cells. Experience with in vitro and in vivo assays of tumour growth is also essential. Familiarity with microscopy, cell culture, molecular biology and molecular neuroscience techniques will be required. You will be computer literate, highly motivated and able to work in a close knit team environment. You will have demonstrable experience in collaborative research and a track record of publications in peer reviewed journals.
