Application are invited from the qualified Malaysian scholars to undertake a 3-6 months of research / lecturing at the American universities during the 2012/2013 academic year (August through June).
The Malaysian Fulbright Scholar Program provides opportunities for Malaysian academics to develop or update their research through interaction with distinguished counterparts in the United States. By providing a mechanism and support for meeting and interacting with the best of American scholars, the program seeks to promote dialogue on subjects of mutual interest to Malaysia and the United States.

Eligibility:
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
1. A Malaysian citizen.
2. Doctoral degree or equivalent professional training or experience at the time of application.
3. Minimum five years working experience in the relevant field.
4. Faculty member in a university or a higher learning institution in Malaysia and  eligible for sabbatical or other leaves.
5. An excellent record of achievement as indicated by quality publications and professional activities.
6. Proficiency in English appropriate to proposed lecturing or research project to be carried out in the United States;
7. A detailed statement of proposed activity for research or lecturing at a U.S. institution. The proposed project should contribute to the development of knowledge in your field and must be effectively investigated within the period of grant.

The Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE) is pleased to announce the FY 2012 competition for the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) program. The Fulbright FLTA Program is a nine-month program funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of United States Department of State.
It is a non-degree program that provides young teachers of English an opportunity to refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency and extend their knowledge of the society and culture of the United States, while teaching their native language to U.S. students and strengthening foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges and universities.

Fulbright FLTA participants also interact with their host universities in conversation groups, extracurricular activities, and community outreach projects. Fulbright FLTA participants must return to their home country upon completion of the program

The post-doc will participate in the Dutch Cancer Society project :”Sister chromatid cohesion as a novel foothold for cancer therapy”, a collaboration with the departments Medical Oncology (Dr. V.W. van Beusechem) and Otolaryngology/ Head-Neck Surgery (Prof. Dr. R.H. Brakenhoff). Aim of the project is to investigate the hypothesis that defects in sister chromatid cohesion can be exploited for targeted and personalized cancer treatment. The cohesion between the two sister chromatids that appear after DNA replication is essential for faithful chromosome segregation. Recent evidence has indicated that cohesion defects may underlie chromosomal instability in a subset of cancers. These cancers might be more effectively treated by specific inhibition of the pathway(s) that have become essential for the survival of these tumors. The successful candidate will work on a project to characterise the growth and proliferation of tumour competent stem-like cells at the tumour-host interface in patients with Glioblastoma. You will have experience in the derivation and culture of neural stem cells and glioma stem cells. Experience with in vitro and in vivo assays of tumour growth is also essential. Familiarity with microscopy, cell culture, molecular biology and molecular neuroscience techniques will be required. You will be computer literate, highly motivated and able to work in a close knit team environment. You will have demonstrable experience in collaborative research and a track record of publications in peer reviewed journals.

Eligibility:
-Candidate must have a Doctoral degree  in relevant field.
-You will have experience in the derivation and culture of neural stem cells and glioma stem cells.
-Experience with in vitro and in vivo assays of tumour growth is also essential.

The Fellowships is to provide financial support to selected graduate engineers wishing to study full-time Masters’ degree courses in subjects with a bias towards energy, sustainability, infrastructure, environmental technology and water resource engineering. Each Fellowship has a financial value of £8,000.

The award of a Panasonic Trust Fellowship eligible for an individual as follows :

• be a UK citizen;
• be qualified to degree level in engineering or a closely related discipline;
• have membership at any grade of a professional engineering institution accredited by the Engineering Council as a licensed member institution;
• have some industrial experience, which may be from a sandwich course work placement or a ‘year out’ before commencing university;
• not be in receipt of an EPSRC or other award to study the respective course.

Each Fellowship has a financial value of £8,000 and is payable in two parts: £6,000 is paid upon registration with the remaining £2,000 payable upon successful graduation.
Awardees who successfully complete their studies will be eligible for the award of a Panasonic Trust Silver Medal; those graduating with distinction being eligible for the award of the respective Gold Medal.

The IN3 offers grants for following the Information and Knowledge Society Doctoral Programme in each new edition. The IN3-UOC Doctoral Theses Grants Programme require full-time dedicationfrom the student and being physically present in the research institute’s facilities.

The maximum duration of the grants is four years. Grants require annual renewal. Renewal is contingent on the students benefitting from such grants achieving the training and research objectives established in each case. One of these objectives is to complete the organised research period within a maximum of three years. Another is to carry out research papers derived from the doctoral thesis
